A Guide On Making The Best Ube Latte

The Ultimate Guide On Making The Best Ube Latte

If you're a coffee lover looking to explore something new and exciting, ube latte is the perfect drink to add some color and flavor to your caffeine routine. Ube, a purple yam native to the Philippines, has been taking the food and beverage world by storm, and it’s not hard to see why. With its vibrant purple hue and subtle, sweet flavor, ube makes for a fantastic addition to lattes. Ditch the vanilla latte, and try a new global flavor.

What You'll Need

  • 2 tablespoon of ube coffee syrup. No need to travel to your nearest Asian or Filipino store. We've got you covered here.
  • 1 shot of espresso (or ½ cup of strong brewed coffee)
  • ¾ cup of milk (or non-dairy milk like oat, almond, or coconut milk)

Step-by-Step Guide to Making an Ube Latte

1.  Brew the Coffee

Brew your espresso or strong coffee. A single shot of espresso is perfect, but if you don’t have an espresso machine, you can brew a strong cup of coffee using a French press, pour-over, or even a moka pot.

2. Froth the Milk

Froth your milk to create a creamy texture. If you have a milk frother, simply froth your milk until it’s light and airy. If you don’t, you can heat your milk in a saucepan until it’s steaming, then use a whisk or handheld frother to create foam. The more frothy and velvety, the better!

3. Add Ube Syrup

Ube coffee syrup is the key to getting that rich, purple color and delicious flavor in your latte. Simply add 2 tablespoons of ube coffee syrup in your frothed milk and coffee mixture.

6. Optional Garnishes

If you're feeling fancy, you can top your ube latte with whipped cream or even some ube halaya on top for that extra flair. For iced ube lattes, you can add ice cubes to your glass before pouring in the milk and coffee mixture.
